Field Support & Commissioning Services

for Power Plants, Petrochem Operations, and Agro-Industrial Facilities

Field work at customer sites represents a significant portion of what we do. Some years, we spend more time on the road than in the office. Macek Power has worked in many places around the world, including the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Europe. Our field services include technical support for equipment installation and commissioning, outage support as owner’s engineer or technical director, inspections, steam path geometry measurement for re-rate studies or component manufacturing, and information collection for root cause failure analysis. Our capabilities and experience in the field interacting with different cultures under a wide variety of site conditions supplement your existing staff and leave you with peace of mind.

EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION & COMMISSIONING

Macek Power provides technical direction for equipment package installation using your own or contracted millwright labor. Our experience includes complete skid-mounted packages as well as large units installed on specially engineered foundations.

Both general and machine specific experience benefit the end-user with Macek Power in a commissioning role. Our services include observation and direction of various cold and hot commissioning processes, including:

  • Instrumentation function checks
  • Trip logic tests
  • Precision shaft alignment
  • Lube oil system preparation
  • Rated-speed no-load operation
  • Full-load start-up
  • Vibration analysis

OUTAGE SUPPORT

Macek Power often interfaces directly with outage service providers such as General Electric and Siemens on behalf of the equipment owner.  We help owners and operators optimize maintenance budgets by providing experienced eyes and ears that seek out and defend the best interests of our customers. Additionally, Macek Power provides planning, vendor qualification, and management services for both scheduled and forced outages.

ROOT CAUSE FAILURE ANALYSIS

When failure occurs, the equipment owner usually wants to know what caused it. The usual suspects are design, maintenance, application, and operation.  Identifying the culprit is analogous to detective work. It often involves a combination of disciplines such as structural analysis, thermodynamics, and metallurgical examination, along with a thorough review of the available historical data, to deduce the root cause, not just the failure mode.  Our experience, educational background, and relationships with various laboratories make Macek Power one of the best choices you can make when root cause failure analysis services are needed.
