Our Story
Macek Power was formed as a Texas limited liability corporation in 2003, to provide rotating equipment engineering and consulting services. We knew, however, that it would not be enough to simply offer services. Our mission, therefore, was to provide those services at lower cost, with faster response, greater flexibility, and friendlier customer service compared to many of the big names in the industry.
Planning and development continued from 2003 until 2007. Then in early 2007, commercial operations commenced. In 2016, the company entered the steam turbine rotor blade manufacturing business by establishing a CNC manufacturing facility near San Jose, Costa Rica. In 2019, this operation was moved to La Porte, Texas, where it operated until the sale of the facility in 2022. Although rotor blade manufacturing was commercially successful, the decision to sell the facility was made because manufacturing demands on human resources made it difficult to satisfy our original mission, engineering and technical support services.
Today, Macek Power provides engineering and technical support services that can be roughly divided into four categories.
- Rotating equipment consulting
- Steam turbine engineering
- Field service technical support
- Power engineering
Engineering expertise derives from a blend of broad-based industry experience in repair shop and field settings with both theoretical and computational based mechanical engineering backgrounds. We specialize in steam turbine design and power generation engineering, including steam turbine re-rates and steam path audits. Our experience encompasses a wide variety of rotating equipment, such as gas turbine engines (heavy industrial and aero-derivative), steam turbines, expanders, pumps, compressors, and the mechanical aspects of motors and generators.
Macek Power clients include the petrochemical and process industries, utility and agricultural facilities, repair and manufacturing shops, other engineering firms, and occasionally, the OEM. We resolve rotating equipment design and operational issues using a blend of theory and practice. Macek Power owner and operator, Michael Macek, is a licensed engineer with more than 30 years of experience.
Macek Power is headquartered in Houston, Texas. As a small business, we offer fast, flexible service at a reasonable cost. We have invested heavily in modern software tools for turbomachinery performance simulation, heat and mass balance calculations, rotordynamic analysis, CAD/CAM, and mechanical event simulation. Additionally, we maintain an extensive engineering library and regularly attend technical conferences to stay informed about the latest industry trends and technologies.
